Best eSIM for Europe (2026): Regional Plans Compared
A multi-country Europe trip is where travel eSIMs shine: one profile, one plan, many borders. But "Europe" means different things to different providers, and the cheapest option depends on how many countries you visit and how much data you use.
First, check which countries "Europe" includes
Airalo's Europe page says its regional package covers 41 countries. Holafly's Europe eSIM lists 33 destinations, and Holafly states it includes the UK and Ireland. Those counts are not the same list, so if your route includes the UK, Switzerland, Turkey, the Balkans or a microstate, open the coverage list on the provider's page and look for every country on your itinerary.
Published prices: unlimited regional plans
| Days | Airalo Europe (41 countries) | Holafly Europe (33 destinations) |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | $11.50 | $11.90 |
| 5 | $19.50 | $20.50 |
| 7 | $27.00 | $27.50 |
| 10 | $35.00 | $37.50 |
| 15 | $49.00 | $51.50 |
| 30 | $71.00 | $76.50 |
Nomad and Saily also sell Europe regional and single-country plans, often with smaller fixed-data options that cost less than unlimited. We didn't verify their Europe prices in this update, so we're not quoting them.

EU residents: read this
If you live in the EU, your home plan may already include "roam like at home" use across the EU, which could make a travel eSIM unnecessary for an EU-only trip. Ask your carrier what is included and whether fair-use limits apply. Note also that Holafly says its eSIMs don't work in your home country, and for EU residents that means the entire EU region.
Things that matter more than $2
- Refund rules. Holafly's Europe page mentions up to six months to request a refund and lists cancelled trips and incompatible phones as eligible reasons. Read each provider's refund policy before you buy early.
- Hotspot use. Holafly caps sharing at 1 GB per day. If you plan to tether a laptop on trains, a large fixed-data plan with full hotspot support may suit you better.
- Top-ups and renewals. Airalo supports top-ups and optional auto-renewal when 10% of data remains; turn renewal off when you get home.
- Weak spots. Holafly notes coverage can be weaker in mountains and remote areas, using the Alps as an example. That's true of every provider, because they all use local networks.
A simple way to decide
- List every country on your route and confirm each is on the plan's coverage list.
- Estimate your data: a 2-week trip with Wi-Fi at hotels often fits in 10–20 GB; streaming and tethering push you toward unlimited.
- If unlimited, compare Airalo and Holafly for your exact number of days — the gap above was between $0.40 and $5.50.
- If fixed data, compare regional fixed plans from Nomad or Saily on their official pages.
